About Me

I am Sydney Tapia, a dedicated and passionate creative professional. With a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Professional Studies with an emphasis in Visual Art from Boise State University, I bring a unique blend of knowledge and creativity to my work. My journey through childhood cancer at the age of five and overcoming heart failure at thirty has not only defined my resilience but also deepened my appreciation for the power of self-expression. These experiences have ignited a passion for capturing moments that resonate with authenticity and emotion.

Professional Experience

My academic background in Visual Art has equipped me with a diverse skill set, enabling me to excel in videography, photography, and storytelling. I am dedicated to creating visual content that communicates compelling narratives and evokes strong emotional responses. As the Digital Media Coordinator for Revel Movement Studio, I have spearheaded numerous initiatives that align with the studio’s mission of inclusivity and empowerment.

One of my primary responsibilities has been the development and implementation of new programs, such as the "Pride in Motion" initiative. This groundbreaking community program offers free/pay-what-you-can introductory classes in various movement and dance styles specifically designed for the trans community. It has been a significant milestone, launched during Pride Month to maximize its impact and visibility. I also organized a silent auction in conjunction with this initiative, raising funds for gender-affirming care charities and fostering broader community engagement.

In addition to these programs, I have worked diligently to enhance operational efficiency and communication at Revel Movement. I maintain open and effective communication with our instructors, coordinate volunteer efforts, and implement feedback mechanisms to continuously improve our offerings. My marketing efforts include developing social media campaigns, crafting email newsletters, and building partnerships with local LGBTQ+ organizations to enhance our outreach.

Creative Ventures

Beyond my role at Revel Movement, I am also Co-Executive Producer and Editor Haunted Happenings with Tony and Vera, a platform where I get to collaborate with amazingly talented individuals. This experience has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to combine my technical skills with my passion for storytelling in the horror genre. Winning the Radio Boise Hi-Fi Society album cover artwork contest was another highlight of my career. This achievement, decided by popular vote, came just months after surviving heart failure. Inspired by the Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles of Alphonse Mucha and the 60s album cover artwork that drew from these styles, winning this contest was a testament to my resilience and creative vision.

Personal Interests

Outside of my professional endeavors, I am passionate about pole dance and aerial arts. These activities serve as both a powerful form of artistic self-expression and a therapeutic escape. Revel Movement Studio has become not only an incredible partnership as my first large client in the world of content marketing but also a safe space close to my heart.

Surviving life-threatening health challenges has shaped me into a person who deeply values self-expression and creativity. These experiences drive my commitment to creating visual content that is authentic, emotional, and impactful. Whether through my work at Revel Movement Studio, my creative projects, or my personal interests, I strive to bring passion, dedication, and a unique perspective to everything I do.
